and we shall be blessed

The Sermon on the Mount

One day as he saw the crowds gathering, Jesus went up on the mountainside and sat down. His disciples gathered around him,  and he began to teach them.

The Beatitudes

“God blesses those who are poor and realize their need for him,

for the Kingdom of Heaven is theirs.

God blesses those who mourn,

for they will be comforted.

God blesses those who are humble,

for they will inherit the whole earth.

God blesses those who hunger and thirst for justice,

for they will be satisfied.

God blesses those who are merciful,

for they will be shown mercy.

God blesses those whose hearts are pure,

for they will see God.

God blesses those who work for peace,

for they will be called the children of God.

God blesses those who are persecuted for doing right,

for the Kingdom of Heaven is theirs.

“God blesses you when people mock you and persecute you and lie about you and say all sorts of evil things against you because you are my followers. Be happy about it! Be very glad! For a great reward awaits you in heaven. And remember, the ancient prophets were persecuted in the same way.

Let’s continue with the Spirit of Thanksgiving.  Why not yearn to be thankful every day of the year?  It is easier to be in the mindset of thankfulness when the season arises and we are inspired to discuss with others what we are thankful for.  It is helpful when we are encouraged through Facebook to write our daily thanks for the month of November.  I love the season of Thanksgiving and a time to remember and reflect.  A time to gather and love.  I want to encourage myself and you to have a Spirit of thankfulness year round.  Why not start a daily journal to write down a few things each day to explain how you have been blessed on that day.  It can be something as simple as the beautiful sunshine… a kiss from a child… a smile from the cashier to greater things like healing… a restored relationship… to a check in the mail that helped pay a bill.  The Lord blesses.  I think sometime we fail to recognize all of the blessings He bestows upon us.  Let the blessings flow! Rest in them today and all year long.

I would love to hear from you.  How has the Lord blessed you?  How can you learn to be thankful all year long?  What would you say to others that would  encourage them to be mindful on a daily basis of their blessings?  Leave your thoughts and let’s encourage one another in our blessings!
