Chosen instrument

The following scripture reference is referring to Saul (who would be renamed, Paul)… Acts 9:15: But the Lord said to Ananias, “Go! This man is my chosen instrument to proclaim my name to the Gentiles and their kings and to the people of Israel.”

He was named Saul. Jesus renamed him Paul. I am so fond of Paul and his story. Not just because I am partial to the name Paul 😉… But because of his amazing transformation and kingdom building story.

Saul was a persecutor.
Saul bashed Christians.
Saul did not believe.
Saul destroyed.

Because of an encounter with Jesus… A beautiful conversion occurred in Saul’s life.
Because of an encounter with Jesus… Saul was transformed and became Paul…

Paul was a Christ follower.
Paul spread the gospel through the power of Jesus Christ.
Paul taught about life in Christ.
Paul was a new creation.
Paul had a major role in writing much of the New Testament.

Acts 9 teaches us that he was God’s “chosen instrument.” If you read the previous chapters of Acts, you would learn that Saul was against Jesus and His followers… But all along Jesus had a different plan in store for Saul’s life. He was a chosen instrument.
You may read that and easily think… well that is good for him… God picked him just like He chose Noah, Moses and Mary… But I am not extraordinary like they are.

I want to let you in on a little secret… You are extraordinary!
You too are chosen!

God has a plan for you to be an instrument for His kingdom just like He did for Paul. Maybe your story will look a little different. Maybe you may never have a name change or spread the gospel the exact same way Paul did. You won’t write part of the Bible… But you are an instrument. Not just any instrument but CHOSEN instrument(s)!

Where does God have you planted? What does your surroundings look like? Who do you do life with?

Look around… Be used… You are an instrument and God wants to use you to better His Kingdom. You are a chosen instrument!

What is He calling you to today?
